Tuesday 19th September.

The silence coming out of the McAlpine at the moment is almost deafening, and there is so little news leaking out at present that you get the feeling that something must be happening and they just aren’t telling us about it. I can’t believe that having sunk to the foot of the division no steps are being taken to lift us from our plight. All we read night after night is Bruce’s rhetoric about how he will lift the players for the next game, and silence from ‘upstairs’ with Rubery keeping his hands firmly in his pockets.

Bruce is only in his third year of management and probably hasn’t found himself in this position before, but surely his sidekick John Deehan should know how to lift players suffering from a crisis of confidence. A number of players such as Gorré, Beech and Irons for example are playing well below their capabilities and this has got to be rectified before another “Great Escape” is needed to save us from the drop.

Clyde Wijnhard has apparently suffered some sort of reaction to the antibiotics he is taking for his broken arm and has been re-admitted to hospital for more treatment. Although it sounds as though we’ve little chance of seeing him play again this season, I hope he gets himself sorted out quickly so that he can be 100% fit and raring to go for the next campaign and that this is hopefully not going to be in the second division.

A big thank you to Machala for putting up with me doing this and Ian for his support and my Mum for her proof reading.
