Friday 18th August.

I am still umming and aahing about whether to go to Hillsborough tomorrow. I was going to buy a ticket after the game last week, but felt despondent after the 2-1 defeat and couldn't be bothered to queue up after the match. All week I've been meaning to ring the ticket office to find out whether they can be bought on the day, and I finally got time to call the ticket office about 5 o'clock and at least I now know you can pay at the turnstile. I think I will find out tonight who is going tomorrow, and probably join them if there's space in the car.

The team news isn't very surprising, and it sounds as though the only change to last weeks side is the inclusion of Thomas Heary who having recovered from those shin splints (I'm still none the wiser) and will replace the injured Steve Jenkins. Last time I saw him in action, the winger he was marking (supposedly) absolutely tore him to shreds, so I hope that the Sheffield Wednesday left winger is a pile of crap.

My wish for Delroy Facey to be included in the side look as if it might actually happen, even though it is probably only a place on the bench. I think that Steve Bruce might start to throw one or two youngsters into the side now that we are officially skint to see how they perform.

The Kevin Gray situation is still no nearer to being resolved, he is still officially a Town Player, and he is still on loan at Stockport. It seems as though he was actually ill having lost 9lb with a viral infection, but a permanent move still seems to be in the balance. The key to the deal would appear to be Tranmere who have been looking to sign a Stockport player (I don't know or car who) and the proceeds from the sale will finance the Kevin Gray transfer fee.
