The bitter end

Tuesday 20th February.

Delroy Facey who was injured on Saturday right at the end of the game is doubtful for Saturday’s visit to Turf Moor. I thought he had just taken a bit of a knock, but it seems that he badly gashed a knuckle, presumably from a stud. The gash is so deep that the bone was exposed (ouch!) and although they thought he might be able to play with the hand strapped, it looks doubtful at this stage. There is almost a week to go before the game and things might change, but if they don’t then Macari might possibly have to call on Chris Hay or Danny Schofield. Maybe we could sign Iffy Onoura back on loan if he can only get a place on the bench for Gillingham.

Results went badly on Saturday, and they continued in the same vein tonight with Barnsley and QPR both winning, and Grimsby and Crewe picking up a point at Bolton and West Brom respectively. Only Stockport lost, 4-0 at Norwich, but we are starting to lose some ground again on the teams immediately above us. We have games in hand on most of the teams above us, but it’s almost 2 months since our last victory and we need to start collecting some maximum returns before we lose too much more ground.

A big thank you to Machala for putting up with me doing this and Ian for his support and my Mum for her proof reading.
