Wednesday 29th November.

First day back to work today, and I was amused to see that one of my colleagues had left one of the travel trade papers for me to read. The journal was left open at a page showing a picture of Terry Fisher placating furious Town fans after the West Bromwich defeat. Terry Fisher is (was?) the Chairman of Travel Company Going Places, but has been on long-term sick leave for the past few months through stress or something similar. It’s so refreshing to see a company boss getting into hot water after being off sick and then being seen at a sporting event. Nice one Terry!

The Storthes Hall training ground must seem more like a transit camp at times with people of different nationalities arriving for a couple of days and then disappearing without trace. This week’s transient is Slovakian international Milan Timko who has joined for a three-day trial, but doubtless he will be on his way soon so I won’t bother buying a Slovakian dictionary.

When I opened the paper tonight, I thought Marvin Smooth had lost his marbles with headlines of “Macari takes his side into top spot!” However, I was soon brought back to reality when I read that he was talking about the reserves. Lou Macari’s son, Paul, scored in a win against Rotherham yesterday to put the second string top of the table. Perhaps I have been watching the wrong team and should use the vouchers with letters rather than numbers in my season ticket.

A big thank you to Machala for putting up with me doing this and Ian for his support and my Mum for her proof reading.
