Friday 28th July.

Once again, Town have been linked with Andy Booth. Just when it looks as though the only blue and white shirt he might be putting on is that of our near neighbours in the south of the county, his name crops up once again. This time it seems that Wolves expressed an interest in Boothy, as they are looking to replace Ade Akinbiyi who they have just sold to Leicester for £5 million. It is suggested that Sheffield Wednesday might be prepared to let him go for a fee in the region of £1.2 million, and each time someone shows an interest Town are also linked.

Bruce is purportedly believed to be speaking with Booths agent, but as there has been so much speculation in this matter I refuse to get in the least bit excited, particularly when we seem to have a board of directors with a cheque-writing allergy.

Town's pre-season schedule continues tomorrow with a visit to Port Vale at Vale Park. Over recent years, they have proved to be very much a bogey side (along with other teams beginning with P - Peterborough and Portsmouth to name but two), but we have yet another new face in the side tomorrow. Joining our myriad of other trial players we have another centre-back, Sebastien Sansoni from Swiss club Neuchatel Xamax. I always thought that Neuchatel was one of those peculiar chocolates that were left in the box when the orange creams had gone, I'll have to check this next Christmas.

At 22 years of age perhaps he is seen as something for the future, but the way that shirts are being handed out to trialists I think I might pop down to the McAlpine because I might even get a game myself. Anyway with no transfer fee and fairly modest wage demands, I'll probably get a contract never mind a trial.

A big thank you to Machala for putting up with me doing this and Ian for his support and my Mum for her proof reading.
