Friday 2nd February.

No news still on the Examiner web-site as to the arrival or otherwise of Peter Ndlovu, so I thought I would have a quick look at the official club website. I almost wish I hadn’t because I was greeted by the succinct headline “Ndlovu Joins Blades”. Oh bugger! After a week of excitement thinking he was coming back Neil Warnock has finally won the race and it looks as if Trevor Francis’ interest in Curtis Woodhouse has swung things in favour of South and not West Yorkshire. Macari is “disappointed”, I am gutted. We’ll just have to make sure that we get our own back by taking 3 points from both Sheffield United and Birmingham who still have to visit the McAlpine this season.

Simon Baldry has been struggling all week with a thigh injury, but it looks as though he might have recovered sufficiently to be able to make the side tomorrow. Steve Jenkins is now back in the Town fold after his sabbatical at Birmingham, but cannot play tomorrow as he picked up a couple of bookings and has received a one match ban, although the defence isn’t the part of the team needing a tweak. We haven’t conceded a league goal since the middle of December which is really good, but that must be tempered by the fact that we haven’t scored a league goal since Boxing Day. Admittedly we haven’t played very many games, but we must start to find the back of the net more regularly, although with Nottingham Forest and Bolton in the next 2 games it isn’t going to be easy.

A big thank you to Machala for putting up with me doing this and Ian for his support and my Mum for her proof reading.
