Monday 4th September.

So much for my hope for better news on the injury front, although the latest victim could have been much worse. Whilst on the way home from a function in Middlesbrough, the car in which Clyde Wijnhard was travelling as a passenger careered off the A1, up a bank, and the car then caught fire. Wijnhard has a badly broken arm as well as other injuries of a more superficial nature whilst the driver went through the windscreen but somehow got off quite lightly. Seemingly, Clyde is in quite bad shape and just managed to call for help on his mobile before losing consciousness.

Wijnhard had a four-hour operation to reset the double compound fracture of his arm, and it remains to be seen how long he will be out of the game, but I think it will take somewhat longer than Jamie Vincent’s broken wrist! Although he hasn’t been playing at all well this season I wish him a speedy recovery, as we cannot afford any more dodgy luck like this, but, thankfully at least he has lived to tell the tale.

A big thank you to Machala for putting up with me doing this and Ian for his support and my Mum for her proof reading.
