Thursday 6th July.
I didn't get time to ring the season ticket hotline today, so
I sent the application form and cheque in the pre-paid envelope
provided, the only problem is that the closing date is tomorrow
and the envelope was only second class. Oh well, let's see what
happens and I will argue the toss if there is a problem, after all,
I can always tell them that I posted it earlier in the week and
that the post office must have delayed it.
Conflicting reports on the Andy Booth saga suggest that Steve
Bruce and Paul Jewell have spoken about the possibility of a signing,
but that the Sheffield Wednesday Chairman has issued a 'hands off'
warning and that Booth is staying put. Since their relegation, Wednesday
are trying to reduce their wage bill, but look more likely to ship
out their expensive foreign imports and hang onto to Andy Booth
probably because he is the only one who has even the remotest chance
of understanding Paul Jewell's scouse drawl.
Steve Bruce's first and possibly most unspectacular signing (apart
from Kwami Hudoutu of course who was a complete waste of a squad
number) Georgios Donis, has been called up to do his Greek National
Service! I would have thought that at 31 years of age he would be
a bit long in the tooth, but let's hope that he can shoot more accurately
with a Kalashnikov than he can with a ball in front of goal! Apparently
he can't leave Greece until he has been issued with an exemption
certificate, although this is supposed to be a formality and Town
expect this to be sorted out in a couple of days.
