Thursday 3rd August

I sometimes wonder how Marvin Smooth fills his column in the local paper. Once again things are quiet at the McAlpine except that a summit has been called for Monday to discuss possible signings, so it's nice to know that with the season a little over a week away they are showing some real urgency.

Good news at last on the Intertoto front. Having done better than even their staunchest supporter could have hoped, Bradford City's European campaign was washed away in the torrential rain last night. Zenit St. Petersburg already leading 1-0 from the first leg added three more without reply.

This was made all the sweeter, as I work in the travel business and having spent half an hour on Wednesday finding some flights to Vigo for a Bradford fan who was convinced that they would qualify for the final, I could smugly ask "shall I cancel those flights then?" The answer was a subdued "Yes" - Result!

A big thank you to Machala for putting up with me doing this and Ian for his support and my Mum for her proof reading.
