Thursday 11th January.
There is still no sign of the return of Mr Ndlovu, although Lou
Macari is making a fresh effort to secure his services for a little
longer. He arrived at the last minute (day before actually) for
his previous loan spell so perhaps there is still time. Teletext
and Radio 5 both alluded to a possible return, so perhaps if the
national media know something about it there may be some reason
for optimism. Steve Jenkins’ loan period doesn’t finish until after
their game this weekend so the pressure is on us to try to persuade
Mr Francis to be nice to us. Perhaps they can come to a deal where
we will promise to lose when we play them in the last game of the
season at the McAlpine, provided we have reached safety by then.
I feel sure that there would be no suspicion of any wrongdoing because
we have never won our final home game since we left Leeds Road.
In fact, I cannot even remember us playing well in any of these
games. Remember Birmingham, Portsmouth, Port Vale and so on?
There was also speculation that Jamie Vincent might be the subject
of a £700,000 transfer bid by Portsmouth. There is nothing to substantiate
this yet but let’s see what develops because I think we would find
the fee hard to resist at the moment.
