Monday 4th December.
Following Saturdays win, Macari is still pledging to bring some
new faces to the McAlpine. He recognises that although performances
lately have improved the present squad is still not good enough
and we need some genuine competition for first team places. Recalled
loan man Rob Kozluk will stay at Bramall Lane for at least another
week as injuries and suspensions mean that he is needed for at least
one more match. We have heard these promises of new arrivals for
many weeks now so I suppose I shouldn’t get very excited.
The speculation about a possible new investor does seem to have
some real substance. Norwegian multi-millionaire Atle Brynestad
who is a former chairman of the Cunard Cruise Line watched the game
after flying in on his private jet, and he and his entourage spent
the day looking at the stadium and facilities, as well as witnessing
a rare Town victory. Barry Rubery has confirmed that he is keen
to talk to any potential investors in the club, and with the financial
results coming out later this week Mr Brynestad might be just what
we need. Apparently he has also looked at Queens Park Rangers, Bury
and Carlisle as other possible investments so we shouldn’t start
spending his money just yet. Let’s wait and hope…
