Monday 13th November.
Whilst I am sunning myself in Cyprus, the fall-out continues from
Saturday’s miserable defeat against West Brom. The post match demonstration
comprised around 300 fans who were calling for the resignation of
club chairman Barry Rubery and the re-instatement of former manager
Peter Jackson. Apparently, Rubery is out of the country in Barbados
(lucky git!), whilst the fans were placated (slightly) by the intervention
of former chairman Terry Fisher. Although he is still on the board
of directors Fisher is no longer involved in the decision making
side of the club, but hopefully the hard word will get back to the
absent Mr Rubery whilst his slurps his Pina Colada.
Yet another trialist is having a few days at the McAlpine. Danish
striker Bo Hanson from AGF Aarhus is hoping to receive international
clearance to play in a reserve team fixture, ironically against
West Brom. I have never seen so may potential players come and go,
so I won’t get excited just yet because none of these trials seem
to bear any fruit. Is it because our standards are so high or is
it because they all hope to be paid in exchange for their services?
I suspect it is the latter, so why do we keep persisting with them?
