Wednesday 13th September.
Steve Bruce reportedly kept the players locked in the changing
room for about an hour after the game to give them a piece of his
mind or whatever he does in there. Perhaps he should have brought
the players back out to face the fans to hear a few more home truths
from those who made the effort to turn out last night. Having said
that there was such a feeling of apathy throughout the crowd that
the fans would probably have been long gone, although if you read
the HTAFC.COM website you would have thought that the atmosphere
was buzzing – they obviously don’t sit in the Kilner Bank stand.
Even our soon to depart chairman had a few choice words to say
accusing three or four players (who apparently know who they are)
of not performing. He said that some players ‘weren’t all there’,
which thankfully is where Mr Ayre will be quite soon – not here.
Seeing as he is working his notice why can’t he be a little more
honest and name these under-performing players, or does he still
need a reference for his next job?
The only players who got a modicum of praise were Rob Kozluk who
did perform pretty well even though most of his crosses were aimed
at his 7 foot 9 imaginary friend, but at least he tried. The other
was Jon Dyson who, although short on real talent, has been a great
servant to the club, and showed this with some decent tackles when
he came on as a second half substitute, and at least he looked interested.
