Thursday 24th August.

Not much new today, except that it looks as though thankfully Martin Smith should make the starting 11 on Saturday. He seems to have made good progress with his injured ankle, which might give us a small chance of emulating last season’s result (I wish).

Ken Monkou has resumed training with the first team squad, and I just hope that he sorts himself out or that we can get rid of him. With the squad situation as it is we need every hand to the pump, and cannot afford any passengers.

In a practice match yesterday we beat Middlesborough 2-1 and this is puzzling me a little on 2 counts. Firstly, I was always led to believe that practice makes perfect, and with all these practice matches we really should be the Dogs Bo**ocks by now! Secondly, the team featured a chap called Maarten Schops from Dutch club RKC Waalwijk, but why do we keep taking trialists when there is little chance of signing them? Besides, he plays for a club that lost in the Intertoto cup to Bradford so he must be useless.

A big thank you to Machala for putting up with me doing this and Ian for his support and my Mum for her proof reading.
