Wednesday 7th March.

As ‘Macari Steps-Up Signings Bid Day’, (or as it is more traditionally known, Thursday) approaches, the signing speculation is revived. Once again the name of Andy Booth has been mooted as a possible target, but it makes you wonder if this story is wheeled out as an attempt to placate the fans. If the story is true we have made a £200,000 offer to bring him back to his old stamping ground although this seems a bit of an insult as a fee of £2.7 million was paid when he moved in the opposite direction. It is to be hoped that Wednesday are keen to offload him as he is out of contract at the end of the season and at this time he won’t command any transfer fee at all. A bit like Ken Monkou really!

There is perhaps a little more substance in the other possible target, Lee Morris from Derby County. He was pictured in tonight’s paper seated in the stand watching the no score bore against Grimsby last night. If that wasn’t enough to put him off then I’m not sure what is. The former Sheffield United striker was transferred to Derby last season in a deal worth around £2 million, but has had limited opportunities following a foot injury. The only problem is that he only looks about 15 so he might have a bit a trouble getting served in Johnny’s on a Saturday night.

QPR drew tonight to return Town to second bottom in the division, whilst Nottingham Forest beat Barnsley 1-0 so perhaps they have softened up the Tykes for us.
