Wednesday 21st February.
In an attempt to try to give some balance to the defence again,
Macari has today taken West Ham youngster Shaun Byrne on trial for
two games. The 20 year old is a left sided defender and is allowed
to play in the next two reserve games, if he impresses will be allowed
to stay with Town until the end of the season. It looks unlikely
that he will be able to figure in Saturday’s visit to Burnley who
inflicted Fulham’s 5th defeat of the season last night. I just hope
that Macari doesn’t persist with the same defensive line up as last
week, I would favour Craig Armstrong at left back (he’s the only
one we’ve got), with Steve Jenkins in his more accustomed right
back role. In the centre I would be inclined to ‘rest’ Adie Moses
in favour of Jon Dyson, or if he’s not 100% then give Kevin Gray
a start. Whilst on the subject of defenders, Thomas Heary is about
to sign a 2 year extension to his contract, which following his
rather unconvincing display on Saturday I would imagine he won’t
be able to get hold of the pen fast enough!
Our bad week continued tonight with just one fixture in division
1. Nottingham Forest at home to Sheffield Wednesday, a home banker?
No chance, Wednesday won 1-0 to lift the struggling South Yorkshire
side a little further away from Town.
