Wednesday 31st January.
Still no news on the Ndlovu signings front but he is still expected
to take some part in the 16 on duty at home to Ipswich in the second
leg of the Worthington Cup semi-final tonight for Birmingham City
and Ipswich. Reports on Radio Leeds Leeds Leeds suggest that he
is waiting to see how the result pans out before making a decision
on his future. It would appear that he is keen to gain some sort
of medal if possible, and if Birmingham reach the final he might
stay with them to try to gain a place in the 16 on duty at Wembley.
There is a suggestion that the Sheffield United deal is still open,
and the result from tonight’s game might accelerate any decision.
Birmingham managed a surprise win over Ipswich to qualify for
the final of the Worthington Cup, which might just tempt Ndlovu
to stay at St Andrews to try to earn a finalist’s medal. One other
result tonight of relevance to Town’s plight is another defeat for
QPR who have now played the same number of games as we have but
remain a point behind.
There is little team news concerning Town’s forthcoming home game
against Nottingham Forest except that Simon Baldry is still a doubt
because of the thigh injury that is still troubling him. Hardly
surprising really, he’s got his new contract!
