Monday 22nd January
After Saturday’s postponement, there seemed to be some kind of
war of words between Town and Tranmere over the possible date for
the re-arranged game. Apparently, information coming out of Merseyside
suggested that the game was going ahead tomorrow yet Town have insisted
that it will not. Town have arranged a practice match for today
against Halifax and for the Tranmere game to be re-arranged both
clubs must be in agreement about the new date and Town are not prepared
to give the nod.
On the subject of Halifax Town, David Beresford has turned down
a loan move down the A629 because he thinks he can hold out for
a higher division club. David Beresford obviously feels that he
is better than he is, and it might have done him good to stretch
his little legs playing some first team football even if it is at
the lower reaches of the third division. Striker, Chris Hay who
has looked like the archetypal square peg in a round hole since
he signed for Town has turned down a move on loan to Bury. I know
I thought he might be a decent signing a few months ago but I admit
I was wrong, Gigg Lane might be a more befitting venue for his abilities
(or lack of them).
According to the paper tonight, Lou Macari had been intending
to watch Burnley play at Turf Moor, but because of bad traffic on
the motorway he diverted to the Hawthorns to watch West Brom play.
It makes you wonder where the hell he lives? There must be 150 miles
between West Bromwich and Burnley!
