Tuesday 2nd January.

Lou Macari was today busy in discussions with Trevor Francis of Birmingham City hoping to get clearance to extend Peter Ndlovu’s tenure by a further 2 months. It is hoped that Town can play off Birmingham’s desire to keep Steve Jenkins for their 3rd round FA Cup game this weekend against their wish to recall Peter Ndlovu who is clearly in good form at the moment. Seemingly, because Ndlovu is out of contract at the end of the season there is little prospect of Town parting with a fee to make him a full squad member, so an extension to the loan arrangement would be the next best solution. The last game of his present loan period would be on Saturday, but that is provided Birmingham are prepared to allow him to become ‘cup-tied’, and that is beginning to look an increasingly unlikely prospect.

Meanwhile, unbeknown to me on Saturday Chris Lucketti suffered a broken nose and has undergone an operation to have it re-set. Apparently he could have played against Crystal Palace if necessary, but the postponement has allowed him to have his second bout of facial surgery in five weeks. At least we have the reliable Kevin Gray and new signing Adie Moses as cover so hopefully we will be able to cope once again with his absence, especially with Jon Dyson seeming to be an automatic choice under Macari.

A big thank you to Machala for putting up with me doing this and Ian for his support and my Mum for her proof reading.
